Faustition Leaving for Munster 14x18
This is part of the Faustition project that I worked on for a long time. There are several integrations of this scene that I painted before settling on the final. I painted a few scenes from a rough Faustition storyline that I wrote. In this one Faust was made aware of Margarette / Gretchen’s death, cast a spell creating the ruins to follow, raised a mob of undead to punish the responsible and began charging after the black dog leading the way. The dog and the raven are the spirit of progress, Mephistopheles. The ruins and ritual circle are copper, silver and gold leaf. It is oil painted on 14x18 cradled panel with a 1/2 wooden offset so it can be hung with or without a frame.
